Err…Valentine’s Day

Can’t believe Valentine’s is coming again.

I guess you can say I am one of the “lucky” ones.  I’ve not had to spend Valentine’s as a singleton for many years now.  But that doesn’t mean it’s always smooth sailing.  Far far from it.

With each year’s holidays, comes the “gotta get a present, something different, something…expensive.”  Since I’m with some one new this year, I can start over on the kind of gifts I buy.  No, I am not recycling, just reusing ideas.  They work, the girls like them, but not my wallet.  Ouch!

But gifts and money are not big issues.  Easily taken care of, no sweat.  What is big is the significance behind it.  Ugh!!  I’m sure those who know me know how I feel about “long-term” relationships.  Don’t like them, don’t want them.  And yet, I seem to be in one all the time.  I’m not looking for love, and yet I’m not alone on Valentine’s.

Is it just me?  Am I approaching the world from the other lane?  Whereas everyone else is out there looking for love, I’m trying to run away from it.  Is that the secret to finding love?  Don’t look and ye shall find?  If so, I’m going to copyright that and make a ton of money.  Secret to life and love solved.  Kaching!!

I like the person I am with right now.  I am not “in love”, haven’t been for a long time.  Once you get burned, you don’t want to try again a second time.  But it’s not nice stringing the person along.  Even I know that.  That’s why the choosing of the gift is very important.  It has to be Valentine-ish, and yet not, luv-luv-ish.  Just enough to be shagable!!  haha

Anyways, where am I going with this?  I don’t know.  Just feel like jawing over about V-day.  It’s just a massively commercialized event which drives people mad.  Happy Valentine’s People!!
