Jars

February 26, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I was watching an episode of Vicar of Dibley and there was this hilarious charades bit.   The cast is in the vicar’s living room playing charades.  One of them is standing up, in one hand she has a jar of dry pasta, in the other is a jar of mayonnaise.  The rest are sitting on the couch, with this perplexed look on their faces.

“Have you gotten it yet?” she asks.

They all shake their heads.  One asks “are you sure this is a film?”  And another says “and it’s only one word?”

“Yes” she says impatiently.

The others ponder for a bit and finally give up.

“It’s Jars” she says excitedly.  “Jars!”

They look at each other, confused.  “What?”

“You know…Jars.  Well I’ve never seen the movie myself, but I heard it was about this huge Jars that terrorizes people.”

Buahahaha!!!  Ok, it’s funnier if you were watching.

Torchwood S2E07

February 25, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Ok, I’m a little behind on this one.  But I just finished watching it, and I have to say, the writers did a pretty nice spin on the concept of death.  First off, looks like Owen will be around a while longer (as I surmised) and he’s changed but not as I had expected.

But I’ve got a few questions though:

1) Who is this tarot girl?

2) How did Jack know there was a second glove?

3) I thought the girl and Jack deduced the item was buried and yet why  was it instead in a box stuffed in a pile of garbage?

I’m wondering, just how long can this storyline be continued?  Eventually a resolution has to take place.  I’m still placing bets on Owen staying around, but I have a feeling something or someone has to pay for this.  Will this lead up to the season finale?  It’s only episode 7, so there’s still time for this plot line to finish and another one to lead up to season’s end.

Liked the episode, a few cool twists, a short homage to the Addam’s family, and a bit of being lead by the nose.  All in all, worth the 50 min.  So now I feel the show’s going to cruise a bit before this storyline ends.

P.S.  I heard that this is the new Torchwood team!!  Hawt!!

Reality Show Junkie

February 21, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I really like the shows on BRAVO.  Yes, I watch Project Runway (insert joke here).  I think Heidi and Tim really make the show.  And last night, I found out not only is Top Chef coming back, but so is Work Out!!  Awesome!!

I much prefer to watch “reality” television over the crap that’s being aired on network television.  I don’t think I watch any shows on those channels anymore.  But I do watch other shows on other channels, just more from cable programming.

If I want humor and to laugh my ass off, I’d watch Comedy Central.  They’ve got some incredibly hilarious comedians (like the guy who does the puppets, and the large Hispanic comedian who calls himself “fluffy”).

Love Cathy Griffin, even though with each season, it becomes less “real” and more scripted.  She finds more ways to be over-the-top, and of course she’s no longer on hte D-List, hasn’t been for a while now.  I just want to see what her relationship is like with the multi-billionaire she has now for a boyfriend.

I miss Dog the Bounty Hunter.  He’s this massive tank of a person, who seems to be forever locked in “Metal Grunge”.  He’s got a tough-as-nails demeanor with this soft maiden heart.  He’d pummel you to the ground in order to arrest you, and then become your personal counselor as his team whisks you off to jail.  By the time the criminal gets to jail, he/she has a change of heart, and Dog will likely give you a Biblical quote.  And of course there’s Beth.  Sometimes I wonder who is the tougher of the two.

Of course, there’s The Girls Next Door.  Come on, it’s about three blond Playmates who have shacked up with Hugh.  Each of the girls represents an aspect of femininity that a guy looks for.  Holly, the boss, intelligent and cunning (she’s managed to snag Hugh).  Bridget, soft and nurturing.  Kendra, sporty and fun.  Not to mention all three are incredibly beautiful and ready to drop dress and panties at every opportunity. It’s just a whole lot of fun to watch.

I’m sure I’m forgetting to list other shows that I watch, but these currently jump into mind.  I think I’m a reality-show junkie.   I wonder if there’s a support group for this.

I Hate Screech

Can’t stand the guy.  Never have never will.  I can’t believe I used to watch SBTB.  It definitely was not because of him.  In case you don’t know who I’m talking about, I’m talking about Dustin Diamond, probably the biggest slimeball on this side of the Earth.  I didn’t realize what a jackass he was until I saw him in last season’s Celebrity Fit Club.  At times, I wish I could have just reached through the set and strangled him.

Now the next season of Celebrity Fit Club is coming on, and guess what?  Dustin is back.  UGH!!!!!!!  You know he’s just using the show to regain some air time.  He’s a has-been, and because of last season, he came back on the radar.  But he played it smart.  He was the villain, the guy you wanted to hate, and he played that role well.  Everyone on the show pretty much rolled over for him, and took the show by the balls and ran with it.  Somehow he ended up promoting his “comedy tour” and sex tape.  GROSS!!!!!!!!!

I wonder what he’s going to pull this time?  Will he claim that he can still eat whatever he wants and still lose weight.  I wonder if Harvey is going to reeally let him have it this time.  I wonder what Dustin’s reasons will be for coming back.  But one thing I do know, I will be watching.  Damnit!!!

I love to hate him.  I Hate Screech!!

Potential Torchwood Spoiler Season 2 Post Episode 6

February 15, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Big Torchwood fan here, not really a Doctor Who fan though.  Just watched episodes 5 and 6 of Season 2 and they were very good!  But I want to throw out some “maybes and stuff” and may end up spoiling your viewing.

THEREFORE…DO NOT READ FURTHER IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!

That being said, here we go….

Like I said, just watched episodes 5 and 6.  (Thanks Carl!!)

Something major happens to one of the cast members.  Something so definitive, that so far, only one other member of the team seems to have been able to recouperate from.  Therefore what happens to this unfortunate soul?

Well based on brief shots of next week’s episode, the whole team is pretty shook up and some slicing and dicing appears to be in progress.  So the question is, are we now going to be short one member?

The show swapped one character for another in the first episode of Season 1, cause now we have Gwen.  So a precedent has been set.  Yet looking at the dynamics of the team, I don’t see this as a definite change.  Here’s what I mean.

1) We would be short of some one on the team being familiar with medicine.  No sarcastic witty banter, autopsies, healing, patching, womanizing…the whole deal.

2)The team would be practically all “women”.  You’ll understand if you watch.

3)Where would Tosh’s yearnings turn to?

Owen Harper (Burn Gorman)
believes he needs absolution

A victim of his new-found circumstances, Owen Harper believes he needs absolution, as Doctor Who writer Russell T Davies’s award-winning drama continues. Will the lonely girl on the rooftop help him, or will it be a mission to retrieve an alien device that is proving more lethal by the second? And how far will Toshiko go to help him?

So he’ll be back, but based on what was written, he won’t be “back” in the same way.  My guess, he’ll be in a state of limbo, going over his sins and wrongdoings…yada yada…and somehow the team will bring him back.  Most likely changed, for better or worse (that’s to be seen).

I want to say it would be safe to bet that Owen will be back.  But there’s always the chance that he won’t.  So I’m looking forward to the upcoming episodes and finding out like the rest of you.

Again, I warned you about reading this.  Don’t kill the messenger, blame your own curiosity.  Remember “curiosity killed the cat”.

Err…Valentine’s Day

February 12, 2008 · 1 Comment

Can’t believe Valentine’s is coming again.

I guess you can say I am one of the “lucky” ones.  I’ve not had to spend Valentine’s as a singleton for many years now.  But that doesn’t mean it’s always smooth sailing.  Far far from it.

With each year’s holidays, comes the “gotta get a present, something different, something…expensive.”  Since I’m with some one new this year, I can start over on the kind of gifts I buy.  No, I am not recycling, just reusing ideas.  They work, the girls like them, but not my wallet.  Ouch!

But gifts and money are not big issues.  Easily taken care of, no sweat.  What is big is the significance behind it.  Ugh!!  I’m sure those who know me know how I feel about “long-term” relationships.  Don’t like them, don’t want them.  And yet, I seem to be in one all the time.  I’m not looking for love, and yet I’m not alone on Valentine’s.

Is it just me?  Am I approaching the world from the other lane?  Whereas everyone else is out there looking for love, I’m trying to run away from it.  Is that the secret to finding love?  Don’t look and ye shall find?  If so, I’m going to copyright that and make a ton of money.  Secret to life and love solved.  Kaching!!

I like the person I am with right now.  I am not “in love”, haven’t been for a long time.  Once you get burned, you don’t want to try again a second time.  But it’s not nice stringing the person along.  Even I know that.  That’s why the choosing of the gift is very important.  It has to be Valentine-ish, and yet not, luv-luv-ish.  Just enough to be shagable!!  haha

Anyways, where am I going with this?  I don’t know.  Just feel like jawing over about V-day.  It’s just a massively commercialized event which drives people mad.  Happy Valentine’s People!!

Haha you so funny

As many of you kow, I’ve had my share of bad relationships.  Needless-to-say, I am now so paranoid about any form of long-term (more than a week) pairings.  But Nancy just couldn’t stop reminding of the many times she’s had to bail me out of them.  There was this one time where Nancy pretended she was my girlfriend and scared away/shot down this really scary girl I was somehow associated with.  *shivers*

Alright, so Nancy, I am giving you props!!

Now Nancy showed me this video by Wong Fu Productions on YouTube and it is hilarious.  Even though Nancy showed me this because she wanted to remind me of my past disasters.  I can’t help but laugh…now.  20/20 hindsight, much much different!!  yah!!
