Britney’s “Piece of Me”

December 9, 2007 · Leave a Comment

I’m still nursing a hangover from last night.  The pounding has subsided to a bearable throb.  But it was definitely worth it.  Gotta say, some of the best clubs I’ve ever been to has got to be here in Miami Beach.

Last night, the club played an awesome track by Britney, “Piece of Me”.  I’m not sure if it was the origional or a club remix, but it’s Fe-Nom-E-y’all!!  Sure sure, her voice has been digitized, tweeked, synthed to hell, but the end-product still kicks ass.  I’m just saying, I KNOW this will be another huge hit.

If you haven’t heard, check it out.  Here’s a YouTube link to her song, no official vid out yet.

Worth Every Penny

December 9, 2007 · Leave a Comment

I read about this a few days ago, and I guess I’ve been thinking about it ever since.  This story is about the recent auction and purchase of the Guennol Lioness, a 3.25 inch tall limestone sculpture sold for 57.2 million dollars.  Think that’s crazy…maybe.  Here’s why I think it’s worth every penny.

The sculpture is exquisite.  The details I feel is quite comparable to some of the stuff we see today.  The sculptor seemlessly combined the head of a lioness with a muscular woman’s figure.  All done under 3.5 inches.  Not impressed yet?  Well, did I tell you that the figurine is over 5,000 years old, from ancient Mesopotamia!  Still not impressed?  How about the fact that around 5,000 years ago was when the wheel was first put into use?  Ahh…now you see.  The wheel, that circular thing we see everywhere and taken for granted.  That round device of which practically everything around us depends on.  A very simplistic design, yet probably the most important invention in mankind’s history.  That compare that with a detailed sculpture like the figurine, and it will really blow your mind.

For me, when I think about the wheel, I think about knuckle-walkers, grunting, and “me Tarzan, you Jane” type of civilization.  And then to be told and shown an item so well made that I have to really rethink the concept of what life was like back then.  The people back then wasn’t as backwater and uncivlized as I had origionally thought.

So is this relic really worth 57.2 mil?  Most of you may think not.  But I do.
