My Theme Song

I wasn’t sure if I should have called it “my anthem” instead.  Whatever the case may be, George Michael’s “Fastlove” truly embodies what I feel about relationships.  No fuss, no muss, no strings attached.  Perfect.

Creature of Habit

I’m a creature of habit.  I’m exteremely conforted by repetition and stability.  Take today for instance.  I’m back in Miami (what a difference in weather as compared to the Bay Area), and I’ve been driving around the city.  But what did I do first?  I subconsciously, I guess, went to all my favorite spots in the city first without understanding why.  I grabbed my usual cup of coffee at this quaint java shop run by this elderly Puerto Rican woman I’ve known for years.  I don’t know her name, can’t remember the store’s, and she speaks very little English, and I can’t speak a word of Spanish.  Yet we greet each other like we’re close acquaintances. 

My friends and I have always met at this really mod Japanese restaurant located near Coral Gables.  It’s like tradition.  We never miss it.  It’s just understood that when any of us come back, that’s where we’re going to have our first welcome back dinner. 

I’ve already visited the U of M campus, where I’ve spent many a night poring over text books preparing for the USMLE exam.  Strange how something I really hated doing at a place, at that time, I swore, I would never return, is in fact a place I look forward to seeing everytime I’m back.

Later, I’m going to head back towards Miami Beach.  But not til later tonight.  It makes me laugh to think of just how much fun I’ve had there.  The slogan “What happens here in Vegas stays in Vegas” should also be applied here.  I’m going to have to get a lot of rest first before heading over there.  This is one tradition I love to keep.

So yeah, I’m a creature of habit.  But I don’t see anything wrong with that.
