Timbaland vs. Fergie

December 20, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Bryan and I were “debating” on what is the better song.  I have to admit, I luv them both, but I’ve got to give it to Timbaland with this hit “The Way I Are”.  I am normally not a fan of his stuff at all, but I think this song truly rocks.  The clubs really kick-ass with this single.  But Bryan is the ever faithful devotee to Fergie.  Fergie is disgustingly gorgeous and fiercely talented and “Clumsy” is a really cute song and has a cute vid too.  But I just don’t gravitate to it as much.  Anywho why don’t ya’ll decide and fight amongst yourselves.

P.S.

Gotta give big ups to Timbaland again for this one “Apologize” with One Republic.  Damn!  Timbaland’s got the Midas Touch!!

David Smith’s Massive Transformation

December 20, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Was about to shut down for the night, but came across this piece of news.  Decided to read up and gotta say, this guy, David Smith, is a true inspiration.  If he can do it, then so can any one of us.  But before you scroll on down and find out more about him, I just want to warn you ahead of time, a lot of the stuff is not pretty.  But the journey is inspiring.

I got all this info from this website:

http://www.hemmy.net/2007/07/02/david-smith-amazing-weight-lost-story/

Wanna make sure I give credit where credit is due.  And here’s what was written:

David Smith was 630 pounds in 2003 and decided to change his life by going through only carb cycling for weight loss. Now 2007, he weighs at a stunning 229 pounds, losing 401 pounds but still has excess skin on his body. He underwent several surgeries to remove the excess skin and after that he looks just like any other normal guy. Definitely an inspiration for a lot of the unhappy souls out there.

Alright peeps.  I finally got my ass in gear and am linking the official vid of Britney’s “Piece of Me” vid.  Gosh, I don’t understand why you can’t go on YouTube yourselves and check it out there.  Sheesh!!  haha  j/k

Anyways, watch and enjoy.  BTW, the official word is is that her figure has been digitally remastered (like her voice) so that she looks thinner than she really is.  No big secret.  Just watching this vid and you can tell that it can’t possible be her real fig.  Alright B*atches.  Laterz!

Britney’s “Piece of Me”

December 9, 2007 · Leave a Comment

I’m still nursing a hangover from last night.  The pounding has subsided to a bearable throb.  But it was definitely worth it.  Gotta say, some of the best clubs I’ve ever been to has got to be here in Miami Beach.

Last night, the club played an awesome track by Britney, “Piece of Me”.  I’m not sure if it was the origional or a club remix, but it’s Fe-Nom-E-y’all!!  Sure sure, her voice has been digitized, tweeked, synthed to hell, but the end-product still kicks ass.  I’m just saying, I KNOW this will be another huge hit.

If you haven’t heard, check it out.  Here’s a YouTube link to her song, no official vid out yet.

Worth Every Penny

December 9, 2007 · Leave a Comment

I read about this a few days ago, and I guess I’ve been thinking about it ever since.  This story is about the recent auction and purchase of the Guennol Lioness, a 3.25 inch tall limestone sculpture sold for 57.2 million dollars.  Think that’s crazy…maybe.  Here’s why I think it’s worth every penny.

The sculpture is exquisite.  The details I feel is quite comparable to some of the stuff we see today.  The sculptor seemlessly combined the head of a lioness with a muscular woman’s figure.  All done under 3.5 inches.  Not impressed yet?  Well, did I tell you that the figurine is over 5,000 years old, from ancient Mesopotamia!  Still not impressed?  How about the fact that around 5,000 years ago was when the wheel was first put into use?  Ahh…now you see.  The wheel, that circular thing we see everywhere and taken for granted.  That round device of which practically everything around us depends on.  A very simplistic design, yet probably the most important invention in mankind’s history.  That compare that with a detailed sculpture like the figurine, and it will really blow your mind.

For me, when I think about the wheel, I think about knuckle-walkers, grunting, and “me Tarzan, you Jane” type of civilization.  And then to be told and shown an item so well made that I have to really rethink the concept of what life was like back then.  The people back then wasn’t as backwater and uncivlized as I had origionally thought.

So is this relic really worth 57.2 mil?  Most of you may think not.  But I do.

My Theme Song

December 8, 2007 · Leave a Comment

I wasn’t sure if I should have called it “my anthem” instead.  Whatever the case may be, George Michael’s “Fastlove” truly embodies what I feel about relationships.  No fuss, no muss, no strings attached.  Perfect.

Creature of Habit

December 8, 2007 · Leave a Comment

I’m a creature of habit.  I’m exteremely conforted by repetition and stability.  Take today for instance.  I’m back in Miami (what a difference in weather as compared to the Bay Area), and I’ve been driving around the city.  But what did I do first?  I subconsciously, I guess, went to all my favorite spots in the city first without understanding why.  I grabbed my usual cup of coffee at this quaint java shop run by this elderly Puerto Rican woman I’ve known for years.  I don’t know her name, can’t remember the store’s, and she speaks very little English, and I can’t speak a word of Spanish.  Yet we greet each other like we’re close acquaintances.

My friends and I have always met at this really mod Japanese restaurant located near Coral Gables.  It’s like tradition.  We never miss it.  It’s just understood that when any of us come back, that’s where we’re going to have our first welcome back dinner.

I’ve already visited the U of M campus, where I’ve spent many a night poring over text books preparing for the USMLE exam.  Strange how something I really hated doing at a place, at that time, I swore, I would never return, is in fact a place I look forward to seeing everytime I’m back.

Later, I’m going to head back towards Miami Beach.  But not til later tonight.  It makes me laugh to think of just how much fun I’ve had there.  The slogan “What happens here in Vegas stays in Vegas” should also be applied here.  I’m going to have to get a lot of rest first before heading over there.  This is one tradition I love to keep.

So yeah, I’m a creature of habit.  But I don’t see anything wrong with that.

Trashlantis

December 3, 2007 · 6 Comments

Hey all.

A few days ago, a friend of mine here on the West coast told me about this HUGE mass of floating garbage somewhere in the Pacific Ocean.  Ok, garbage, old news, not too shocking.  But when he told me how large it was, I couldn’t believe it.  I had to look it up.

The very first link that popped up gave me some really startling info.  ( http://www.mindfully.org/Plastic/Ocean/Moore-Trashed-PacificNov03.htm )  If their guesstimate is correct, the floating land mass is about the size of Texas!!  Ugh!!

Why am I talking about this?  Well, not too long ago, Jason and I were talking about how much “Go Green” material was cropping up here in the Bay Area.  Then a few days ago, the Bay Area experienced their own oil spill.  Theresa and I talked about Al Gore’s Nobel Prize win.  And I think Tabitha told me that the amount (and therefore smell)  of garbage up in NYC was worse than she had ever seen.  So there’s been a lot of “talk” amongst us, but no action, sad to say.

So now what?  We’ve got this new land mass popping up and it’s getting larger.  Instead of finding the lost city of Atlantis, we have built our own floating land mass, Trashlantis.  Just how much more can this planet take?  What can be done?  Or better question, when do we start getting active and try out the options that are already available but not chosen?

I’m not pointing any fingers.  You all know just how lazy I am, so I’m as guilty as every one else.  I’m just not sure where or how to begin.

(Bottle caps and other plastic objects are visible inside the decomposed carcass of this Laysan albatross on Kure Atoll, which lies in a remote and virtually uninhabited region of the North Pacific. The bird probably mistook the plastics for food and ingested them while foraging for prey.)
